Warning: Be wary of fake DOTr / PNR FB pages

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) warned the public against dubious Facebook pages posting false and misleading information regarding transport infrastructure projects, such as the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and the South Long Haul (SLH).

PNR is providing updates on big-ticket rail projects.

North South Commuter Railway

The 147-kilometer NSCR project is progressing as planned. The Clark to Valenzuela segment is scheduled to become operational by late 2027 or early 2028. Construction for the Malolos to Clark and Malolos to Manila sections is ongoing, with the NSCR South Extension targeted for completion by 2030.

The NSCR will significantly reduce travel time between Clark International Airport and Calamba to under two hours, with a daily capacity of 800,000 passengers.

South Long Haul

The South Long Haul Project (widely known as Bicol Express) is currently in its early stages with government looking for partners to help finance it.

Calamba to Legazpi

PNR is committed to reviving the Calamba-Legazpi line by 2026, through extensive repairs and rehabilitation of tracks and bridges between Lucena and Sipocot.

PNR service available on the following routes:

· Calamba to Lucena (2 hours & 33 minutes)

· Sipocot to Naga (1 hour & 12 minutes)

· Naga to Legazpi (3 hours & 14 minutes); temporarily suspended due to trainset repairs, with resumption expected by year-end.

PNR strongly warns the public against relying on unauthorized or unverified sources for project updates, such as fare matrices, or service resumption schedules. For official updates, refer to the following platforms:
