Thousands of public-school children can now sit comfortably while attending their classes, thanks to the “Pinoy Bayanihan” program, a collaborative undertaking of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., the Department of Education, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

3 Pagcor CSR projects bag Stevie, Quill awards

State gaming firm Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) once again made a mark in the field of business communication when its noble projects won prizes at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards in Australia and the Philippine Quill Awards of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Three of Pagcor’s communication and corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects bagged Bronze awards during the Stevie Awards, held at the Westin Hotel in Sydney, Australia, on May 27.

The winning projects were the “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid-Aralan” (Building Schools Through Good Governance) School Building Program and the “Pinoy Bayanihan” project.

They earned the Bronze awards for Innovation in Community Relations for Public Service Communications.

Meanwhile, the agency’s third Pagcor National Photography Competition, which had the theme “Tatak Pinoy” (Uniquely Filipino), also received a Bronze award for Innovation in the Use of Events.

Likewise, Pagcor’s school-building project and the “Tatak Pinoy” competition were recognized by IABC’s Philippine Quill Awards on May 17 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

Both projects earned Merit Awards for the Communication Management/Corporate Social Responsibility Category and Communication Skills Special Events Category, respectively.

Pagcor’s “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid-Aralan” program aims to help improve the quality of education in the country by building thousands of classrooms nationwide, while the “Pinoy Bayanihan” endeavors to eradicate armchair backlog in public schools by manufacturing illegally confiscated logs into school desks and chairs.

The “Tatak Pinoy” Pagcor National Photography Competition, meanwhile, is one of Pagcor’s several contributions to the local tourism industry by helping position the Philippines as a world-class and fun destination.

Pagcor’s Assistant Vice President for Corporate Communications Maricar Bautista said that being recognized by prestigious public-relations and communications award-giving bodies here and abroad is a testament to Pagcor’s well-implemented, high-impact programs.
