More than 431,000 members and pensioners have qualified for the refund program of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), with ₱6.2 billion already disbursed as of April 8, the state pension fund said last week..
The agency said the rollout signals the start of crediting refunds to approved applicants, with proceeds expected to be received within three working days after successful application through the GSIS Touch mobile app.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the initiative aims to provide immediate financial relief to its members.
“Nagsimula na po ang pag-credit ng refunds sa ating mga miyembro. Layunin ng programang ito na makapagbigay ng agarang ginhawa, at sinisiguro natin na sa loob ng tatlong working days matapos maaprubahan ang aplikasyon ay matatanggap na ang kanilang refund (The crediting of refunds to our members has begun. The program aims to provide immediate relief, and we ensure that within three working days after approval, they will receive their refund),” Veloso said.
Earlier, GSIS announced that the Balik Ginhawa (Loan Moratorium Through Refund) program is set to release over ₱19 billion, benefiting an estimated 1.37 million eligible members and pensioners.
Under the scheme, regular loan amortizations continue, but qualified borrowers receive a lump-sum refund equivalent to up to three months of payments, specifically those made between December 2025 and February 2026.
The program is open to members with active loans that are current and without arrears during the covered period. Participation is voluntary and does not carry additional interest or penalties.
The refunded amount corresponds only to months with recorded payments and results in a proportional extension of the loan term.
Applications are accepted exclusively through the GSIS Touch app until Oct. 31.
