The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) have entered a partnership to advance space science and technology among Filipino youth and strengthen ties with the overseas Filipino community.
The collaboration was made official through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on June 18, by PhilSA Director General Gay Jane P. Perez, Ph.D., and CFO Chairperson Dante Francis M. Ang II.
Under this agreement, the two agencies will integrate their cultural and educational initiatives. Key programs include the PhilSA Space Science Camp alongside CFO’s Exchange Visitor Program (EVP), Youth Leaders in the Diaspora (YouLeaD), and the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.
A major focus of the partnership is utilizing the EVP to tap into the expertise of overseas Filipino scientists, engineers, and researchers to support the country’s national space program and inspire the youth.
According to leadership from both agencies, the collaboration aims to build a sustainable space sector by fostering an informed citizenry and bridging the gap between the diaspora and the homeland.
By creating more opportunities for global Filipinos to share their talents, PhilSA and CFO expect to strengthen international connections and further enrich the Philippines’ growing space ecosystem.
