A day in the life of apl.de.ap

Don’t ever think that Jessica Pica–the actress who defeated Hilda Koronel at the “Miss Nite Owl Dance Party” aired in the late 60s and early 70s over Channel 11—has resigned from show business.

She hasn’t.

As a matter of fact, Jessica is as active as anyone in the biz.

The last time she made a public appearance was when she guested at the online show of beauty queen-actress Azenith Briones and entertainment columnist Obette Serrano, “A2Zenith” in Water Plus Productions’ studio.

Jessica, still pretty and vivacious, recently went to a bar in Pasig City where she bumped into the popular Filipino-American rapper apl.de.ap, Allan Pineda Lindo, in real life, one of the members of the rap group Black Eyed Peas.

apl.de.ap was recently in the country to meet up with the authorities of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), also known before as Phllcoa, to discuss his support and advocacy for coco farmers.

In an agreement with the officials of PCA, apl.de.ap and his counterpart stakeholders will work together to put up a trading mechanism which can help coconut farmers to earn carbon credits in exchange for carbon markets.

“I was going to the ladies room and guess who I crossed path with outside the CR, no other than apl.de.ap?” Pica exclaimed excitedly.

“I thought he was a snob. My God! He was very warm. He was very friendly,” yelled Jessica.

“He was with a big black American bodyguard. I thought apl.de.ap would snob me. But he was very nice. He was very friendly,” Pica recalled.

“I did not go through the process of talking to anyone just to get near him unlike other international stars who would refer me to their managers. Sa kanya, diretso na ako (I went straight to him),” added the actress.

“I introduced myself to him and he responded very kindly. I asked him about KC (Concepcion) but in turn, he asked me about her,” Jez (Jessica’s pet name) chuckled.

apl.de.ap said Pica was very willing to have a photo-op with her. (Boy Villasanta)
