For the first time in her more than ten years in the biz, it’s only now that actress Chanel Latorre has experienced the star treatment accorded to celebrities of her status.
It’s GMA Network’s gesture of pasting her giant photo on the walls of the edifices of the network along EDSA near the GMA-Kamuning MRT station as part of the promotion of Channel 7’s primetime TV drama “Legal Wives” where Chanel plays Faizah, the loyal and dependable cousin of Ismael, the role being portrayed by Dennis Trillo.
“Nakakataba talaga ng puso (It is indeed heartwarming),” smiled Chanel who started in the movies via controversial Fil-Briton filmmaker Jowee Morel’s “Latak.”
According to Latorre, this is the very first time that a giant tarpaulin which bears her picture is displayed in a strategic location every passerby can see.
“I am honored to be promoted in such a way,” said the actress who admitted she’s not even a GMA contract artist.
Chanel recalled her humble beginnings in show business. “Dati no’n, pag nagsu-shoot kami ng indie films, like ‘yong ginawa namin ni Zig Dulay, ‘yong direktor ko sa ‘Legal Wives,’ ang daming problema. Hindi namin alam kung matatapos o hindi ang pelikula dahil kulang sa budget (Before when I was shooting movies like what I did with Zig Dulay my director in ‘Legal Wives,’ there were a lot of problems. We wouldn’t know if we would finish or not because of budget constraints).
“Hindi nga kami makapaniwala ni Zig. Sabi namin, ngayon, bahagi kami ng isang malaking proyekto ng malaking kumpanya (Zig and I can’t believe it. Imagine, we are part of this big project of a big company),” she exclaimed.
