Civic leader Dr. Jose Antonio Goitia, chairman emeritus of four patriotism-driven organizations, expressed full support for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as he dismissed destabilization rumors against the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Calling the alleged coup stories “pure lies,” Goitia said his groups—Alyansa ng Bantay sa Kapayapaan at Demokrasya (ABKD), People’s Alliance for Democracy and Reforms (PADER), Liga Independencia Pilipinas (LIPI), and the Filipinos Do Not Yield (FDNY) Movement—stand firmly behind the President.
“The AFP has made it clear. They are loyal to the Constitution, their Commander-in-Chief, and the Filipino people. No rumor can break that commitment,” Goitia stressed.
The AFP earlier denounced coup talk circulating online, warning that it “will not take any destabilization plot sitting down.” Military leaders said the allegations were malicious attempts to sow distrust.
Goitia agreed, branding the coup chatter as “classic disinformation tactics” meant to divide the nation. “Those who spread these rumors are not patriots. They want chaos and gamble with the nation’s stability. That is sabotage, plain and simple,” he said.
He also pointed out that the real threat lies not in phantom coups but in systemic corruption. “The fight that matters is the fight against corruption. That is where the nation bleeds, and that is why some sectors distract us with coup talk,” he noted.
Praising the AFP’s professionalism, Goitia declared: “This is not the era of coup plots. Our soldiers know their duty to defend the Republic, not destroy it. The military stands united, and that unity is our strength.”
For him, the message is clear: the administration, the armed forces, and the people remain firmly together as one nation. “Every rumor we expose, every lie we reject, makes our democracy stronger. The Republic will not be shaken,” he concluded.
