Some P7.5 billion in funding has been earmarked for the upgrade of 22 airports and aviation facilities, including the one on Pag-asa Island.
Makati City Rep. Luis Jose Angel Campos, Jr., Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, said that rehabilitation efforts will be carried out under the following budget breakdown:
· P1.64 billion for Ninoy Aquino International Airport
· P1.5 billion for Pag-asa Island Airport
· 581 million for Kalibo International Airport
· P500 million for Laoag International Airport
· P320 million for Bukidnon Airport
· P300 million for Puerto Princesa Airport
· P300 million for New Zamboanga International Airport
· P300 million for Central Mindanao (M’lang Airport)
· P250 million for Catbalogan Airport
· P225 million for Daet Airport
· P200 million for New Manila International Airport
· P200 million for Candon Airport
· P200 million for Borongan Airport
The enhancement of the facilities mentioned is part of the measures being undertaken by the government to modernize the country’s airports and the aviation industry in general.
