New actors Benedix Ramos and Justin Paul Basobas might be greenhorns in the field of cinema but they have shown what real pros are in their film project “All the Things I Leave You” whose subtitle “Patawid” makes it more special and worthwhile.
The movie is entirely Ilocano dialogues that make Benedix and Justin Paul more appealing and wonderful.
Although both the actors have Pangasinense lineage, listening to them act and interact in the film is quite mesmerizing.
Their genuine acting of two young Ilocano males in love with each other has generally elicited shrieks and admiration not only from the LGBTQIA+ moviegoers but the hetero audiences as well if we based it from the reactions of the crowd who watched the film at SM Aura recently.
No wonder Ramos and Basobas will definitely stay long in show business.
Credits should also go to their theater backgrounds.
At the moment, the two guys are featured and concentrated on stage plays, namely, “Yemaya,” an impressionistic show starring Benedix and a cast of theater professionals at the Black Box The Proscenium Theater in Makati City and in Layag Productions in Alaminos City in Pangasinan Justin Paul is busy not only acting onstage and film but teaching arts as well.
“All the Things I Leave You (Patawid)” is about Boys Love (BL) between Kiko (Basobas) and Jorge (Ramos) that sees a parallel gay love from their respective grandparents, Lolo (Grandfather) Tino for Jorge and Lolo Bong for Kiko whose close relationship happened during the pre-war Ilocos.
Despite Tino’s migration to the US, their platonic inclination burnt across miles no matter unsent love letters to each other.
“All the Things I Leave You (Patawid)” is a film treat to all during Pride Month in June. (Boy Villasanta)
