The Filipino public can’t wait to see “Halfworlds,” an HBO Asia Original series which stars Filipina actors Bianca Umali and Sam Concepcion directed by Mikhail Red.
“Halfworlds,” a foray into the mystical world of a supernatural being (half-human, half-fairy) is the most memorable and awaited project not only for Bianca but for her friends and colleagues as well like Chanel Latorre, a co-star in GMA Network’s “Legal Wives.” If only to find out how Umali would fare in the HBO fantasy. Chanel portrays Faizah in the Maranao-inspired TV drama while Umali plays the third wife of Ismael (being played by Dennis Trillo).
Latorre was witnessed to the hardworking Bianca who was shuttling from two separate—locations were far from each other—sets, “Halfworlds” and “Legal Wives.” According to Chanel, she was sympathetic to Umali like a younger sister about the latter’s hectic schedule. “Gusto ko na lang siyang yakapin, alam mo ‘yon (I just wanted to hug her, you know what I mean?”) quipped Chanel.
“Bilib talaga ako kay Bianca. Grabe (I salute Bianca. Oh! She’s fantastic. I admire her a lot as an actor. I felt she was very exhausted pero kinaya niya lahat pagsabayin ang shoots ng dalawa niyang proyekto (but she was able to pull through simultaneous shoots of two projects).
“I remember, isang araw bago siya bumalik sa set ng (it was one day before she would report to the set of her) HBO movie niya. ‘Yong siya lang ang kinukunan sa set namin at ‘yong kaeksena niya dahil babalik na siya sa set ng (That she was being shot all throughout with her scenes because she would shuttle next to her) HBO movie niya.”
“‘Yong ibibigay na lang sa kanya ang costume pagkagaling niya sa set ng HBO. Ni hindi na siya makapunta sa tent. Tapos, salang na agad siya. Exhausted na siya pero kailangan niyang gawin (You know how is it being handed with her costumes at once after her HBO set. She couldn’t even get to her tent. She would quickly change character. She was exhausted but she had to do it),” recounted Chanel.
