
The Filipino Arts and Cinema International (FACINE), an annual international cine festival in San Francisco, California announced on Monday its finalists in various sections in the full length division.
FACINE has chosen nine (9) finalists to compete in the following categories: Film, direction, writing, performances in both lead and secondary roles, male and female, editing, cinematography, visual (set, costumes and special effects) and aural design (sound, music).
Now on its 28th year, FACINE was founded and organized by film critic Mauro Feria Tumbocon, Jr., also known for his pen name Mike Feria, former member of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) and founder, and former chairman of the Young Critics Circle.
FACINE is the longest-running festival of films from the Philippines and the Filipino diaspora which has earned honors and encouragement not only from the arts communities worldwide but from various socio-cultural agencies.
Due to the life-threatening COVID-19 pandemic last year, the event was deferred.
This year’s festival will be entirely virtual and will be held on November 4-7, 2021.
A panel of three jury members will select the eventual winners.
