Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Fred Pascual highlighted the advanced and stronger economic collaboration with the United States, citing the pivotal role of the US in the country’s stride for economic growth and development during the bilateral meeting with Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo held at Marriott Marquis Hotel. In particular, the DTI chief shared the country’s interest in forging partnerships to boost the innovation economy through a worker-centered, sustainability-driven, fair, and transparent approach.
During the meeting, the trade and industry chief exchanged views with Secretary Raimondo on how to take advantage of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework Agreement to bring in projects and investments, including those that will accelerate the country’s clean energy transition. Both countries expressed dedication to joint efforts through the 2024 Presidential Trade and Investment Mission and the March 2024 Indo-Pacific Business Forum. These endeavors aim to fortify engagement with stakeholders, expand bilateral trade and investment opportunities, and prioritize key sectors such as clean energy, critical minerals, and food security.
