BMW provides mobility to Asean leaders in summit

The country’s recent hosting of the 30th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) last April 26 to 29 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila tackled a community vision that will guide the ten member-states to becoming a truly inclusive and stronger region in the next decade.

In a courtesy visit to the ASEAN National Organizing Council (NOC), Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, and currently the official mobility partner for the summit, commended the government for the success of the leaders’ summit.

As a courtesy to the visiting dignitaries, ACC provided over 100 BMW 7 Series high security vehicles, BMW X5, and BMW 520d sedans for leaders and ministers from the ASEAN member-states, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and of course, The Philippines.

The 30th ASEAN Summit was the first of two ASEAN Summits this year as ASEAN celebrates its 50th anniversary.

President Duterte presided over the opening ceremony and chaired other meetings at the PICC. He also headed the Leaders’ Retreat at the Coconut Palace.

During the summit, the regional leaders discussed the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, external relations, and future directions as well as their views on pressing relevant issues. At the end of the summit, the ASEAN Declaration on the Roles of the Civil Service as a Catalyst for Achieving the Community Vision 2025 was signed.

“Guided by the summit’s theme – Partnering for Change, Engaging the World – we are one with the government in reaffirming the aspiration for an ASEAN that works to reinforce positive economic and social change in the lives of people in the region and across the globe,” ACC President Maricar Parco said.

“We take pride in our role as the premium mobility partner as the Philippines makes its mark yet again through the 30th ASEAN Summit,” she added.

BMW will continue to provide premium mobility for dignitaries in the upcoming ministerial meetings and deploy another fleet in the upcoming 31st ASEAN Summit, which will take place on November 10 to 14.
