Officials from the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met Wednesday to reaffirm their partnership and boost coordination on key reform priorities, the BTr said Thursday.
“Discussions centered on public financial management reforms and opportunities to deepen technical cooperation in areas such as treasury management,” the agency said.
National Treasurer Sharon Almanza and Deputy Treasurer Kenneth Ian Francisco represented the BTr, while the IMF delegation included Executive Director for Japan Jun Mizuguchi, Deputy Division Chief for the Asia Pacific Department Dennis Botman, and Deputy Division Chief of Public Financial Management II Maximilien Queyranne.
Almanza highlighted Japan’s support for the BTr through the IMF and emphasized the importance of continued technical assistance for critical fiscal reforms.
The BTr said the meeting reflects both institutions’ commitment to sound fiscal governance and transparency, supporting the Philippines’ long-term economic stability.
