The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) remains committed to assisting individuals affected by Tropical Storm #KristinePH.
At Naga Airport, a mobile phone charging station has been established just outside the main gate to aid those in need of power for communication.
Additionally, last night, 43 individuals, including four families and students from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CEBSUA), were provided shelter in the arrival area on the ground floor of the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB).
At Tacloban Airport, passengers who opted to stay at the airport were accommodated inside the terminal building and provided with refreshments throughout the night.
CAAP remains vigilant in ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of passengers, while coordinating closely with other agencies to provide critical services and assistance during this emergency. CAAP personnel are on hand to manage airport operations and support communities affected by Tropical Storm Kristine.
From October 15 to 19, the SAICT conducted a relentless operation along the Macapagal and Pasay routes, targeting buses operating outside their authorized areas. The apprehended buses were immediately impounded and transported to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) impounding area in Quezon City.
The operation was conducted in strict adherence to LTFRB Memoranda Circulars 2022-067, 2022-074, and 2022-082, which emphasize the importance of Public Utility Buses (PUBs) operating within their designated routes.
“Colorum buses pose a significant threat to passenger safety,” stated Rayson Dela Torre, OIC Head Special Operations Group (SAICT-SOG). “These vehicles lack the necessary permits and insurance, leaving passengers vulnerable in the event of an accident.”
The SAICT’s intensified campaign against colorum vehicles is a collaborative effort with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and is driven by the directives of Secretary Jaime Bautista and SAICT Vice Chairman Jose Lim IV. The operation underscores the DOTr’s commitment to ensuring passenger safety and maintaining the roadworthiness of public vehicles nationwide.
