Capital One Philippines Support Services Corp., the Alabang-based global in-house contact center of Capital One Financial Corp., has been given the Outstanding Community Project prize by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza).

The award was given by President Aquino and Peza Director General Lilia de Lima at the Peza 21st Anniversary and Investors’ Recognition Night at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

“At Capital One Philippines, we invest in communities and partnerships to affect positive change—and we do it best through the dedication and the compassion of our thousands of associates.

This recognition really belongs to them: proof of our commitment together to make a difference in the lives of the Filipino people,” said Capital One Philippines General Manager Peter Hayden.

Since Capital One Philippines started operating in 2013, it has worked closely with community organizations through its Investing for Good initiatives.

In its effort to provide better career opportunities for young Filipinos, Capital One Philippines partnered with the Tuloy Foundation to establish the Contact Center Readiness Program, the first-ever contact center training curriculum accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

To date, nine graduates are working in its Alabang site, 14 are completing their on-the-job training, and a new class of 15 students begins in June.

The company also has meaningful partnerships with the Alabang Elementary School, Haven for Children, Stop Hunger Now, TeamAsia, and the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines.

Along with volunteer associates, Capital One Philippines carried out meaningful community initiatives that benefitted its neighboring communities in Alabang.

In 2015 alone, associates logged more than 10,000 volunteer hours and achieved a 99-percent volunteerism participation rate—proof that when a company invests in its people, its people extend the same level of commitment to them. Capital One Philippines’s commitment also goes beyond the immediate community where it operates.

Through a partnership with the International Care Ministries (ICM), ultra-poor communities and families in Bohol get a chance to a better life through its “Transform” and “Jumpstart” programs.

“Transform” is a livelihood initiative benefitting an estimated 1,150 families, while Jumpstart provides kindergarten education to children from low-income neighborhoods.

Poised to achieve greater impact this year, Capital One Philippines continues to collaborate with trusted and impactful community organizations.

Just recently, it partnered with Planet Water by building a water filtration tower in Putingkahoy Elementary School in Batangas.

The initiative is part of “Project 24,” which aims to build water towers that will benefit 24,000 people in five countries within 24 hours.

“This year, Capital One Philippines aims to deepen our community and industry partnerships, so that more Filipinos will benefit from our initiatives,” Hayden said.

“This award will inspire our associates to continue to invest their time, skills, and compassion with us, and we’re excited to celebrate receiving this award with them,” he added.
