Century Pacific Food Inc., through its packaged coconut cream brand, Coco Mama, committed to donate one million coconut seedlings to smallholder coconut farmers to be planted over the next five years.
The company said, in a statement last week, that the program is also being pursued with Vita Coco, a global leader in coconut water and Century Pacific’s long-term export customer.
The two companies have pledged a collective two million coconut seedlings for donating and planting nationwide.
The parties said this program involving seedlings will help replace aging trees and boost farm productivity while helping secure sustainable supply for the coconut business.
“About 20 percent of the Philippines’ coconut tree population are aging already, meaning yields are severely declining,” Bryan Lingan, Century Pacific general manager of emerging brands such as Coco Mama said.
“At the same time, smallholder coconut farmers are among the most marginalized with limited resources to sustain their livelihoods. By donating and planting 1 million quality seedlings we hope to build a more resilient coconut supply chain where farming communities, the environment, and the business can mutually benefit and thrive.”
The two brands aim to help distribute and plant up to 10 million coconut trees worldwide by 2030.
Century Pacific entered the packaged coconut cream segment in 2019 with the launch of Coco Mama.
Based on latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, the country produced a total of 14,506,607.09 metric tons (MT) of coconut in 2025, 0.04 percent higher compared to 2024’s 14,500,416.25 MT.
