Filipinos who have yet to register as voters, as well as those seeking to transfer or reactivate their registration records, will have another opportunity to qualify for the 2028 elections when the nationwide registration period resumes on Nov. 10.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia announced Thursday that the registration exercise will run until July 30, 2027, giving eligible voters more than eight months to complete their applications.
Garcia urged the public not to wait until the final weeks of the registration period, encouraging prospective voters to process their applications early.
“On November 10, we will officially relaunch the voter registration throughout the Philippines,” he said in an interview on the sidelines of the launch of the 7th Asian Electoral Stakeholders Forum in Makati City.
Aside from new registrations, the Comelec will also accommodate applications for reactivation, transfer of registration and correction or updating of personal information.
The extended registration period is expected to give more Filipinos, particularly first-time voters and those who have relocated, sufficient time to ensure their names are included in the official voters’ list.
The poll body’s previous registration exercise ran from Oct. 20, 2025 to May 18, 2026, generating a total of 5,470,889 applications nationwide.
The resumption comes as the Comelec prepares for the 2028 National and Local Elections, following the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections to November 2028.
The poll body is encouraging eligible citizens to take advantage of the extended registration window to avoid last-minute applications and help ensure their participation in the next electoral exercise.
