DOTr hopes aviation infra to spur healthy airline competition

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is expecting healthy competition among local airlines spurred by aviation projects being undertaken by the agency.

Transport Secretary Jaime J. Bautista stressed that competition will benefit air passengers.

“We hope that through our priority aviation projects, we can stimulate healthy airline competition that ultimately benefit passengers,” said Sec. Bautista during the Philippine Airlines’ (PAL) inaugural flight to Seattle.

The transport chief added that DOTr will ensure aviation infrastructures are completed, while bringing passengers to top destinations is up to airlines.

Sec. Bautista also mentioned the launch of non-stop flights between Paris and Manila starting Dec. 8, manifesting the robust recovery of the airline industry.
