ePLDT partners with Palo Alto Networks for end-to-end cloud security coverage

ePLDT, the ICT subsidiary of the PLDT Group and an industry-leading digital transformation partner of enterprises in the Philippines, and global cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks® (NASDAQ: PANW) recently held a joint virtual media briefing to discuss how Philippine enterprises can be assured of a smooth and secure transition in their digital transformation and cloud migration journey by securing networks and infrastructure with a comprehensive Zero Trust strategy that includes the best-in-class network security platform — including PA-Series Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), VM-Series Virtual Next-Generation Firewalls and Prisma® Access.

Victor S. Genuino, ePLDT President and CEO; Alexis Bernardino, ePLDT Customer Field CISO/Chief Cybersecurity Evangelist; and Steven Scheurmann, Regional VP of Palo Alto Networks for ASEAN highlighted the need for organisations to gain visibility of their cloud security posture to prevent breaches or misconfigurations and protect cloud workloads as they shift to hybrid or multicloud environments.

With ten data centers accounting for 65 percent of the total power generated by the industry, ePLDT is committed to supporting its enterprise customers to achieve end-to-end cloud security coverage with Palo Alto Networks’ solutions and rich threat intelligence capability, combined with ePLDT’s security expertise and local resources. With its VM-Series virtual firewalls, Prisma Access and Prisma Cloud solutions, ePLDT has enhanced visibility, cloud security policy compliance and audit capabilities across hybrid and multicloud environments within the company and for their enterprise customers. Palo Alto Networks offers platform consolidation, compatibility and interoperability with cloud service providers and applications.

“The key to our success lies in our ability to innovate and assist our customers in their digital transformation — without leaving security behind. With Palo Alto Networks as our forward-looking cybersecurity partner, we’re able to provide solutions that keep cybersecurity at the forefront while our customers embark on their cloud migration journey,” said Victor S. Genuino, ePLDT President and CEO.

Since 2016, ePLDT has established its own security operations center (SOC), servicing both enterprise customers and its parent company, PLDT Group (including Smart Communications).

“Having a secured and highly available infrastructure, whether on-prem or in the cloud, translates to operational efficiency and significant dollar savings. The reputational value of partnering with a strong cybersecurity company is invaluable. This collaboration of ePLDT and Palo Alto Networks is a partnership born in the cloud and forged in cybersecurity,” said Alexis Bernardino, Cybersecurity Evangelist/Customer Field CISO at ePLDT.

Steven Scheurmann, regional vice president of ASEAN at Palo Alto Networks, said, “Enterprises face an increased attack surface with cloud adoption. Attackers target employees’ laptops and applications consumed ‘as-a-service’, emphasizing the need for continuous Zero Trust security validation and enforcement. Additionally, application development lifecycles are getting shorter, increasing the expectations of continual improvements, upgrades, etc. Our work with ePLDT demonstrates both our capability in providing end-to-end cloud security solutions, without compromising speed, and our commitment to reaching more organizations and helping them to meet the demands of today’s digital environment. ”
