FDCP, OMB ink deal on faster release of movie clearances

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Optical Media Board (OMB) signed on February 7 a memorandum of agreement to speed up the release of clearances for Filipino films participating in international film festivals and movies for cultural-exchange programs.

FDCP Chairman Liza Diño and OMB Chairman Anselmo Adriano signed the agreement during the OMB’s Anti-Piracy Information Campaign at the Meycauayan National High School in Meycauayan City, Bulacan province, where FDCP also pledged support for the drive.

Under the agreement, OMB clearances for Filipino films brought to international film festivals would be processed faster. Through endorsements from the FDCP, the OMB will release clearances to producers that would already cover the export and import of films.

“Every year, more and more of Filipino films participate in international festivals, be it for exhibition or competition. We initiated this partnership with the OMB to make it more convenient for our Filipino producers to get an import-and-export clearance for their films, since all storage devices must go through the OMB,” Diño said.

Film producers who are participating in festivals or are screening their films abroad for cultural exchange and non-commercial purposes may now seek their clearance through the FDCP.
