GCash girds for biggest IPO

Mynt, the parent company of GCash,  has received Securities and Exchange Commission approval for a proposed initial public offering that could reach up to P92.32 billion at maximum subscription, which would make it the largest IPO in Philippine history.

The SEC approval marks a significant regulatory milestone for one of the Philippines’ most widely used digital financial platforms, which began as a mobile wallet and has since expanded into savings, lending, insurance, and investment products.

The offer period is scheduled from October 6 to 12, 2026, with a target listing on the Philippine Stock Exchange Main Board on October 20, 2026, under the ticker symbol GCASH.

The SEC approval covers the proposed sale of up to 1.61 billion primary common shares and up to 6.42 billion secondary shares, with an overallotment option of up to 1.20 billion additional shares. Mynt is expected to generate approximately P14.95 billion in net proceeds from the primary portion of the offering, which the company said will go toward continued expansion, digital financial product development, and general corporate requirements.

Following the listing, Mynt is expected to carry an initial market capitalization of approximately P668.96 billion. The proposed offering falls under the SEC’s updated public-float framework, which allows companies with exceptionally large market capitalizations to set an initial public float of at least 12 percent.

GCash is operated by G-Xchange Inc., a subsidiary of Mynt. The platform began as a mobile wallet for money transfers, bill payments, and cashless transactions and has since expanded to include savings, credit through Fuse Financing Inc., insurance, and investment products within a single app.

The proposed IPO puts Mynt’s growth trajectory on the Philippine public market at a point when digital payments and financial platforms have become widely used across the country. GCash is already part of the everyday financial routines of many Filipinos, which may make the listing a familiar reference point for first-time investors learning how public markets work.

Under Mynt’s proposed timetable, the GCash IPO offer period is scheduled for October 6 to 12, 2026, with the company targeting a Philippine Stock Exchange Main Board listing on October 20, 2026.

The SEC’s approval means the proposed offering has received regulatory clearance to proceed. It does not constitute an investment recommendation or guarantee returns for participants.

For Philippine fintech, the potential listing is bigger than a single company’s move to the stock market. It also reflects the growing role of technology in how Filipinos manage, move, save, borrow, and invest money.
