A commitment that goes beyond retirement. Aside from providing benefits and services, GSIS remains dedicated to staying connected with the people it serves. In a recent event, GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso personally touched base with pensioners, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare, dignity, and financial security of over 600,000 retirees nationwide.

GSIS reaffirms stronger support for more than 600,000 pensioners

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has reinforced its dedication to pensioners and retirees by introducing key financial and digital reforms in time for Filipino Elderly Week (October 1–7). Led by President and General Manager Wick Veloso, these ongoing initiatives aim to provide stronger financial protection, clearer rules, and greater convenience for retirees and their families.

Key policy upgrades include lifting the cap on survivorship pensions—allowing qualified surviving spouses to receive the full 50% without a limit—and abolishing the cohabitation rule, meaning benefits are only terminated upon remarriage. Furthermore, the GSIS eased rules so that delayed Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR) no longer forfeits the Christmas cash gift, and raised the funeral benefit to PHP50,000.

To improve accessibility, GSIS has digitized multiple services through the GSIS Touch mobile app, enabling members to apply for pensions, process loans, and complete APIR remotely. The system also introduced the GSIS Appointment Buddy QR queueing system to reduce waiting times, ensuring that retirees experience greater ease, efficiency, and financial security.
