THE Hinunangan Riders Club, Inc. (HRCI), a group of motorcycle riders from Hinunangan town in Southern Leyte involved in various humanitarian and community activities, celebrated its first year recently.

HRCI also distinguishes itself as among the organization of motorcycle riders that highly advocates motorcycle safety and traffic regulations awareness.

According to HRCI President Ferdinand Bastes, their group came about in July 2021 after he and some of his townmates, who all share a passion in riding motorcycles, met and decided to form the organization.

“Naitayo itong HRCI dahil tuwing magkikita kami ng mga kababayan ko, napapansin kong lahat kami ay may passion at interest sa motor. And since motorcycle is one means of transportation for almost everyone, especially kaming mga Bisaya, nagpasya kaming bumuo ng grupo,” Bastes narrated.

In just over a year since its founding, HRCI has grown to almost a 200-member organization that seeks to promote programs and activities for the welfare of not only those involved in the group but also their fellow Hinunangnons.

“We look to extend assistance, whether financial or in kind, to our less-fortunate kababayans in Hinunangan through our funds and the donations of our generous townmates abroad,” Bastes said.

Catmon); Maria Lina Sumacot, Secretary (San Pedro Island); Florencio Lumbaca, Treasurer (Brgy. Pondol); Jaime Gomez, Auditor (Brgy. Salvacion); Domingo Burlaza, PIO (Brgy.
