The national government through its executive agencies, namely, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), has been encouraging and supporting the creation of regional arts.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is partnering with regional filmmakers, to enhance filmmaking in the grassroots, in the annual CinemaRehiyon and other art activities in the countryside.
Aside from CCP and NCCA, the creative industry in the provinces is being supported by government inter-agency initiatives such as the various programs to develop and grow local productions, for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and other related offices.
Even if local fashion designer Rosalina Villaverde Padilla of San Carlos City, Pangasinan started her dressmaking career in her community as a private enterprise, the national government is looking after her if need arises.
Allen, pet name of Rosalina, has been in the fashion design world for more than twenty years.
With God’s grace, she quipped, she has been keeping it in the spirit of entrepreneurship.
“Naitatawid naman kahit mag-isa ko lang (I am able to get through by myself),” said Villaverde Padilla.
Intersecting with the public interest is one way to keep Allen’s art alive. (Boy Villasanta)
