The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has given the green light for the inclusion of 10 Enlisted Men’s Barrios (EMBO) barangays in the two legislative and councilor districts of Taguig City.
In a resolution issued on September 25, the Commission en banc approved recommendations from the Election Records and Statistics Department (ERSD) and the Office of the Deputy Executive Director for Operations (ODEDO) to integrate these barangays into Taguig’s districts, in line with City Ordinance No. 144.
“The Commission En Banc, empowered by the Constitution, the Omnibus Election Code, the Administrative Code of 1987, and other applicable laws, resolves to adopt… the increase in the number of seats for the Sangguniang Panlungsod, from eight to 12 for each councilor district,” the resolution stated.
The seven-member panel confirmed that Comembo, Pembo, and Rizal will be part of the First Legislative and Councilor District, while Cembo, South Cembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, and Post Proper Southside will be included in the Second Legislative and Councilor District.
Comelec also approved an increase in the number of Sangguniang Panlungsod seats from eight to 12 for each district. The city ordinance was passed on September 16.
