Motul-sponsored racing sensation Iñigo Anton continues to lead the Rookie Cup Championship after Round 2 of the ongoing F4 SEA series at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.
Anton finished second overall in Race 5 of the series which was held under challenging wet and tricky conditions. Starting from third, Iñigo engaged in a fierce battle against veteran competitors. Demonstrating skill and resilience, he fought his way up to P1 until series leader Alex Sawer of Vietnam overtook him on lap 3. Anton checked in second despite being hounded throughout the race by Thai local hero Ayrton Asdathorn and Australian Seth Gilmore. The impressive drive earned him his second overall podium of the year and further solidified his lead in the Rookie Cup standings.
“We managed to get P2 halfway through the race, but from there, it was all about defense. After intense pressure from the guys behind, we managed to hold on. Thank you to my team, Black Arts Racing, and my coach Alex Yoong for guiding me through my first wet race in Formula cars. It was a fun race, and I’m super happy with the results. Of course, a big thank you to all my sponsors, especially Motul Luzon-Infiniteserv, and Sir Charlie Ong, for giving me this incredible opportunity to race in Formula cars. It truly is a dream come true,” the jubilant Iñigo said.
Iñigo is eyeing another strong finish in Round 3 which is scheduled to take place on a street circuit in Bangsaen, Thailand next month. “My team and I are working hard to develop our setup. I’m learning a lot, but I still have a lot to learn. Since it will be my first street race on a very unfamiliar track, it’s going to be quite a challenge for us, but we’ll continue to do our best,” he said.
Iñigo’s impressive performance is a testament to his dedication, skill, and the unwavering support from his sponsors such as Motul, Alpinestars Philippines, Yokohama Philippines, Blu Coffee Distributors, Time Master Watches, and most importantly, his family, who are fully committed to his journey toward motorsport excellence. With his sights firmly set on the F4 SEA Rookie Cup Championship, Iñigo Anton is emerging as a rising star to watch in the international motorsport scene.
