
“Iti Mapukpukaw,” a story of a young boy who is stricken with grief and trauma on the death of his uncle won the Best Film award in the Full-Length Feature category at the 19th edition of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival awarding ceremonies held at the lobby of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on Sunday night.
One of its cast members, internationally recognized actress Dolly de Leon bagged the Best Supporting Actress trophy for her role as a mom who shares the bereavement of her son and the wonderment of his encounter with “alien.”
The Best Supporting Actor went to Bon Andrew Lentejas for “Huling Palabas.”
Pat Tingjuy took home the Best Actress plum for her role as a volleyball player who gets entangled with a special friendship between a fellow volleybelle in “Rookie” while GMA Network Mikoy Morales snagged the Best Actor award for his sterling performance in “Tether.”
Meanwhile, the Best Director was given to Ryan Espinosa Machado for “Huling Palabas.
In the Short Film section, “Sibuyas ni Perfecto” won Best Film; Mar Cabarles, Best Director, “Makoko sa Baybay”; Best Screenplay, “Hinakdal”; Audience Choice Award, “Hinakdal”; Special Jury Prize, “Hm Hm MhM” and Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC), “Hinakdal.”
