By a stroke of fate, award-winning actress Janine Gutierrez had to manage her state of loss and shock when two of her loved ones kicked the bucket one after the other.
First, it was her paternal grandmother Pilita Corrales who passed on peacefully.
According to Jackie Lou Blanco, Janine’s aunt, Pilita died in her sleep.
Being a daughter of Corrales’ son Ramon Christopher Gutierrez, also known as Ramoncito or Monching, Janine had to stay behind during the sad moments in the family.
As a matter of fact, the actress was ready to take on a breather by vacationing abroad after her hectic and grueling media work for TV and film.
She didn’t pursue her travel, in any way possible, and rescheduled it after the wake of her grandma was over. She would rather go out of the country after the so-called Asia’s Queen of Songs’ cremains were kept safely.
But another tragedy struck her family when Nora Aunor, Janine’s maternal grandmother by Lotlot de Leon, breathed her last one day after the Corraleses had just packed up from the Heritage Park chapel.
In Janine’s IG, she shared the passing of Nora: “…A treasure to our family but truly always more the people’s than ours. She had a life of giving her immeasurable love to everyone she touched whether on screen, through music, or in person.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support. Please keep our family in your prayers, especially Mama, Uncle Ian, Ate Matet, Kuya Kiko, and Ken, as we say goodbye.
“We find comfort in knowing she, the one and only Superstar, will be forever loved.” (Boy Villasanta)
