Philippine magnate Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, also known as JAZA, was named as one of the world’s exceptional leaders in the inaugural Leaders50 list by Thinkers50, a global ranking body for management thinkers.
The Thinkers50 has recognized the Ayala Corp.’s chairman and chief executive officer’s leadership style —decentralization and empowerment— that foster a culture of collaboration and responsibility within the conglomerate.
“His approach has enabled the corporation to navigate complex business landscapes while maintaining a focus on long-term sustainability,” Thinkers50 described JAZA.
It added JAZA’s leadership style of promoting financial integration and sustainability reporting has advanced the company’s initiatives on inclusive growth and environmental stewardship.
In a Facebook post, JAZA said he dedicates the recognition to employees of the Ayala group.
“I am deeply honored to be included in Thinkers50’s inaugural Leaders50 list,” he said.
“I also share this achievement with our partners and stakeholders, who share our purpose and vision, working closely with us to foster communities and, ultimately, a country where more people can thrive. Thank you for being part of this journey.”
JAZA assumed leadership in Ayala Corp. in 1994.
Thinkers50 said the notable contributions of the firm to the community include affordable housing initiatives, access to clean water for low-income communities, and educational opportunities for underserved students.
Among the business leaders included in the Leaders50 list are USA’s Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang; Australia’s Canva co-founder Melanie Perkins; India’s Chanel Global CEO Leena Nair; South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Company president and CEO Jaehoon Chang; and United Kingdom’s GSK CEO Emma Walmsley, among others.
