The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has officially opened the New Passenger Terminal Building in Laguindingan, increasing its passenger capacity by 72%.
The expansion increases the current pre-departure area capacity of 500 by 360, bringing the total to 860 passengers at any given time, which represents a 72% increase.
This substantial improvement boosts the airport’s ability to accommodate and serve travelers, particularly given its handling of up to 2 million passengers annually and its status as the third busiest CAAP-operated airport in 2023 and the sixth busiest in the country as of 2019.
The project, which began in February 2024, includes a 720-square-meter expansion utilizing a modular construction system, which provides excellent design flexibility, swift construction, cost efficiency, and environment-friendly.
