THE Land Bank of the Philippines and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and financial inclusion for farmers in irrigated areas.
Signed last June 11 by LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette V. Ortiz and NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aligns critical financing and irrigation resources.
This collaboration is designed to expand credit access, enhance farm performance, and support national food security by delivering targeted, coordinated assistance directly to rural farming communities.
Under this agreement, NIA will mobilize eligible farmer organizationsincluding Irrigators Associations, Federations, and Cooperativeswhile LANDBANK will provide financing and credit administration through its flagship Agrisenso Plus Lending Program. Designed to drive agricultural modernization, the program offers small farmers, fishers, and agrarian reform beneficiaries highly affordable credit at an interest rate of just 3% per annum.
As of April 2026, LANDBANK has already released 3.78 billion in loans through this initiative, benefiting more than 15,200 borrow ers across underserved rural provinces.
By empowering the entire agricultural value chain, the initiative aims to catalyze an economic multiplier effect that drives inclusive and sustainable growth across the nation.
This joint effort directly supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.s broader UPLIFT framework, which focuses on protecting rural livelihoods, stabilizing the national food supply, and strength
