The international entertainment stage is indeed peopled with a good number of Filipinos or those who have Filipino lineage and they are many.
One of them is popular Fil-American actress Sharon Leal whose mom is a Filipina.
Sharon, who started her acting career consistently well on stage and television, rose to fame when she portrayed Michelle Morris, the secretary of Curtis Taylor, Jr. (played by Jamie Foxx) who later replaced Effie White (essayed by Beyonce Knowles) in the movie “Dreamgirls” in 2006.
At this time, two Filipina actresses will see action as Leal stars with Lea Salonga in the “Pretty Little Liars” HBO Max spinoff.
Sharon and Lea both play hardworking moms in the story to support their daughters.
According to Wikipedia, Leal was born in Tucson, Arizona to Angelita, a Filipina. Her dad was an African-American military policeman who broke up with her mother before Sharon was born.
Shortly after, Angelita married Jesse Leal, a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and a police officer at Clark Air Base in Pampanga town in the Philippines. Jesse legally adopted Sharon.
“Pretty Little Liars” which is about a company of women who are being haunted by a mysterious figure to reveal their hidden secrets is set to stream in HBO Max soon.
