Do you like to write children’s stories but have little or no writing experience?
Sunshine Place offers you the opportunity to learn how to write children’s stories with its “How to Write Children’s Stories” on June 22 and 29, 2024 from 10:00 am-1:00 pm.
The writing crash course will be conducted by Filipino children’s author Dr. Joem Antonio, creator of How to Write Children’s Stories syllabus. He has a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from UP Diliman and is an eight-time Palanca Award winner. He also teaches graduate students of the MA Humanities Program at the University of Asia and the Pacific.
Dr. Antonio welcomes anyone who wants to learn how to write stories—no magical talent, prior training, or writing experience required. The course is open to ages 8 years old and older.
The course includes lectures on determining specific audiences in children’s literature, story design principles, and exercises to help quickly build children’s stories. Participants will leave with guidelines for engaging both children and adult readers, as well as tools for ensuring the story’s language is suitable for children.
It will cover the basics, which makes the course perfect for parents, teachers, and anyone who loves kids! Certificate of completion will be provided.
