Lemon Square, the homegrown Filipino brand of cakes, pastries and snacks under Big E Food Corporation, has opened its 150th store at The Outlets at LIMA Estate in Batangas, expanding its retail presence alongside the company’s growing manufacturing operations in Southern Luzon.
The new outlet marks another milestone for Big E, which recently launched a major manufacturing plant at LIMA Estate, an integrated industrial and mixed-use development of Aboitiz Economic Estates.
Ernesto Ramos Jr., technical director of Big E, said the opening reflects Lemon Square’s goal of making its products more accessible to Filipino families.
“Our 150th store is an important milestone for Lemon Square, because it is a reflection of our vision to serve more Filipino families wherever they live, work and grow,” Ramos said.
He added that the retail outlet would allow the company to serve the growing LIMA community, complementing its manufacturing operations in the area.
Big E’s manufacturing facility occupies 118,132 square meters, or about 11.8 hectares, at LIMA Estate. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to generate at least 2,000 jobs and support workforce development through a technical skills training program.
The facility will serve as the company’s largest manufacturing base in Southern Luzon, complementing its existing plant in Bulacan and expanding its production capabilities.
Clifford M. Academia, vice president for industrial and commercial business at Aboitiz Economic Estates, said Big E’s manufacturing and retail operations demonstrate how industrial activity and consumer-facing businesses can complement each other within an integrated development.
With the addition of Lemon Square’s 150th store, Big E can serve not only its customers but also workers, residents and visitors in the LIMA community, Academia said.
LIMA Estate is home to more than 200 companies and supports approximately 75,000 jobs across industries including electronics, automotive components, precision manufacturing and consumer products.
Beyond industrial operations, the estate has expanded into offices, retail, hospitality, housing, education and other services to support its growing workforce and surrounding communities.
