The Department of Transportation (DOTr) distributed livelihood packages to residents in Malibay, Pasay City, who will be affected by the EDSA Greenways project.
In coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and City Government of Pasay, the livelihood package assistance is intended to support income augmentation for the recipients during their relocation and throughout the project’s construction phase.
At least 21 beneficiaries received specialized DSWD food carts and rice packages.
A $140 million project, the EDSA Greenways Project is a five-kilometer mass transit walkway along EDSA at MRT-3 Balintawak, Cubao, Guadalupe and Taft stations.
The project will also focus on achieving travel time savings of at least 45 seconds for each pedestrian; increasing the number of pedestrians; removal of conflicts of pedestrians and traffic at grade level; and reduction of pedestrian accidents and injuries.
Once completed, the pedestrian infrastructure will be equipped with elevators, monitoring systems, prioritizing accessibility to the elderly, pregnant women, young children, and persons with disabilities.
