In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, Manila Water Foundation and La Mesa Ecopark hosted a youth-led environmental gathering under this year’s theme, #NowForClimate.
The event kicked off with a special screening of the documentary “The Foresters: A Story of Climate Keepers” in partnership with MAD Travel, which inspired participants to write down their personal #ECOmmitments to responsible environmental stewardship.
Following the screening, youth leaders participated in hands-on conservation activities within the ecopark.
They went on a guided #BiodiverCity Walk through the tree sanctuary and Butterfly Garden, followed by a ceremonial planting of two rare, endemic Mangkono (Philippine Ironwood) seedlings donated by the Malampaya Foundation.
The celebration culminated in a seed extraction activity using pods from towering Kupang trees, with the collected seeds set to be nurtured at the Bahay Punlaan for future reforestation across the La Mesa Nature Reserve.
This event offers a preview of the expanded eco-activities coming to La Mesa Ecopark as it prepares to open Phase 2 this July, introducing more spaces for leisure, teambuilding, and nature connection.
Through this celebration, Manila Water Foundation and La Mesa Ecopark successfully demonstrated how youth passion and collective action can pave the way toward a sustainable, climate-resilient future.
