Metrobank launches digital money guide

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) has launched a new digital financial literacy campaign designed to help Filipinos make smarter financial decisions and protect themselves from online scams, debt traps, and misleading financial advice.

In a news release on Wednesday, Metrobank introduced “Earnest,” a digital financial guide and avatar that delivers practical and easy-to-understand content on personal finance, fraud prevention, credit management, and everyday money decisions.

The initiative comes as financial tips continue to proliferate on social media, where inaccurate or misleading advice can expose consumers to financial risks.

Through its dedicated Instagram and TikTok accounts (@earnestph), Earnest aims to provide credible and relatable guidance on developing healthy financial habits while helping users recognize common online fraud schemes.

“Many Filipinos don’t necessarily need more financial information; they need guidance that is approachable, practical, and grounded in their everyday realities,” Metrobank Chief Marketing Officer Digs Dimagiba said.

He said Earnest was created to boost Filipinos’ confidence in managing their finances, safeguarding themselves from fraud, and making informed financial decisions at every stage of their lives.

According to Dimagiba, the campaign moves away from conventional, lecture-style financial education by adopting a more conversational and engaging approach that better connects with today’s digital audience.

With the launch of Earnest, Metrobank hopes to strengthen financial literacy among Filipinos by making trustworthy money management advice more accessible through the social media platforms they use every day.
