Construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 4 (MRT-4) is expected before the second quarter of 2025 with the engineering design already in the final stages, according to Transport Secretary Jaime J. Bautista.
“Siguro mga next year yun. Tinatapos lang namin yung detailed engineering design. Hopefully, late first quarter [of 2025],” Sec. Bautista said on the sidelines of the MPTC Transport Conference.
Spain-based design consultant IDOM Consulting Engineering, Architecture, SA, (IDOM) is tasked to do a detailed architectural and engineering design for the project.
The transport chief said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has already approved the funding for the project.
“This will be funded by the ADB. It’s an approved loan,” he said.
Once operational, the 15.5-kilometer MRT-4 will cut across the cities of Mandaluyong, San Juan, Quezon, Pasig, and municipalities of Cainta and Taytay in Rizal, addressing the massive traffic problem and limited road capacities in the over-populated areas of eastern Metro Manila.
