MTRCB holds compliance seminar for Ayala Malls Cinemas managers, staff

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) conducted a compliance seminar for the staff of Ayala Malls Cinemas as part of its proactive collaboration with its stakeholders, including owners and operators of movie theaters.

Held on Monday, 19 October 2026 at the Ayala Malls Head Office in Makati City, the compliance seminar was conducted upon the request of Ayala Malls Cinemas for a refresher orientation for its management team and frontline cinema personnel.

“We are thankful for the commitment and this forward-thinking initiative of Ayala Malls Cinemas in having their personnel undergo a reorientation on the Agency’s regulation and classification guidelines, as mandated by Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1986,” said MTRCB Chair and CEO Lala Sotto.

“We appreciate their desire to strengthen their understanding of the MTRCB’s requirements. We are always happy to hold these compliance seminars for our stakeholders and partners in the film and TV industry as part of our efforts to promote responsible viewing,” she added.

The reorientation covered the MTRCB’s regulations and policies on age-appropriate classifications, the age verification of movie patrons, its permits and display requirements, monitoring and inspection procedures, administrative processes, etc.

The MTRCB—represented by Board Members Atty. Ricardo “Jojo” Salomon Jr. and Evylene “Bing” Advincula—led a lively exchange among branch managers and frontline cinema staff of Ayala Malls Cinemas from different parts of the country.

They encouraged the cinema personnel to download the MTRCB App, which can be used to scan the QR code of a movie’s Permit to Exhibit (PTE) to verify its authenticity and validity.

The Board Members also discussed the pertinent points of the recently-issued MTRCB Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 02-2026 on digitized PTEs and MTRCB MC No. 03-2026 on the appointment, duties, and responsibilities of MTRCB deputies.
