Members of the active transport community participated during the celebration of the National Bicycle Day at Arcovia in Pasig City, highlighting cycling as a simple and unique mode of transport, which promotes health, mobility, environmental protection, and economic growth.
With the theme “Ride Together, Thrive Together,” the 2024 National Bicycle Day underscores the importance of cycling as a unique and versatile type of transportation that is affordable, reliable, affordable and environmentally sustainable.
Under the National Transport Policy (NTP) and the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 (PDP), non-motorized vehicles such as bicycles, and pedestrians are accorded the highest priority in the hierarchy of road users, and mandates government to prioritize the development of active transport.
Joining the 2024 National Bicycle Day celebrations were Transportation Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Jesus Ferdinand Ortega and Assistant Secretary James Andres Melad.
