NCSC joins SM Cares emergency preparedness forum for SCs and PWDs

An emergency preparedness forum for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) was held at the SM City Activity Center in Consolacion, Cebu on Friday. 

The nationwide event is part of SM Cares Foundation’s disaster preparedness campaign in cases of emergency caused by natural disasters, which is historically prevalent at these times of the year in our country. 

National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Chairman Franklin Quijano who was guest of honor, talked about the NCSC”s similar initiatives, its core programs, PhilHealth Konsulta and the social pension fund. 

Quijano also praised the SM Cares Foundation for coming up with a noble and worthy project that only shows true love and concern for the elderly. 

Ably backing up the chairman were senior NCSC senior officers Cesar Yamuta and Conrado Pono. 

PHIVOLCS Supervising Sience and Research Specialist Jeffrey Perez talked about the seismic and volcanic hazards in Cebu. 

Other resource speakers include PAGASA weather specialist II as he shared 2Hydromet hazards in Consolacion, Cebu.

Rescue and survival expert Dr. Ted Esguerra, also shared his expertise with a demonstration and survival tips for senior citizens and PWDs. 

The event ended on a successful note with the participants getting satisfactory answers put of their questions in an open question-and-answer forum.
