After negotiating the 418.90-km test from Shell SLEX Binan, Laguna up to Shell TPLEX (Rosario, La Union), the results showed the economic advantages of advanced powertrain technologies with the Jaecoo J7 SHS emerging as a standout performer, especially when leveraging its plug-in capability for home charging. It offered remarkable economy at ₱3.33/km (Shell) and a leading ₱2.74/km when consistently recharged at home. While the HEV shows a strong ₱2.87/km, the PHEV’s ability to utilize cheaper home electricity for daily commutes provides a direct cost advantage of ₱0.13 per kilometer over the HEV in this common scenario, maximizing savings.
The Omoda C5 with its 1.5L turbocharged engine demonstrated commendable fuel economy for an ICE vehicle at ₱4.54 pkh offers a competitive cost of ownership for customers preferring a conventional powertrain with robust performance.
