To bolster healthcare access in far-flung and underserved communities, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) on June 10 turned over Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) worth P16.20 million to eight local government units (LGUs) in Luzon.
The recipient municipalities include Rosario and Cuenca in Batangas; San Mateo in Isabela; Pola in Oriental Mindoro; and Dumaran, Brooke’s Point, Magsaysay, and Coron in Palawan. Local officials personally received the vehicles during a ceremonial turnover at PAGCOR’s Corporate Office in Pasay City.
Each PTV is outfitted with vital emergency response equipment such as a GPS navigation system, ambulance stretcher, oxygen tank, wheelchair, and a basic first aid kit—enabling frontline health responders to manage urgent medical situations more effectively.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said the vehicle donations are aligned with the agency’s mission to assist LGUs in building more robust and accessible healthcare systems.
“Our PTV donation program is part of PAGCOR’s commitment to help LGUs build more responsive and resilient healthcare systems,” he said. “Through these vehicles, we help ensure that people living in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas can receive timely medical care.”
Local health officials welcomed the donation, noting its impact in regions where access to hospitals often involves long and difficult travel. In Palawan, for example, the new vehicles are expected to significantly improve patient mobility and survival rates.
“Malaking tulong po ito lalo na sa aming lugar kung saan mahigit anim na oras ang biyahe papunta sa Puerto Princesa City para maihatid namin ang aming mga kababayan na nangangailangan ng specialized care,” said Jose Earl Genobili, Municipal Health Officer of Dumaran, Palawan.
