Platform digitalizing government services launched

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has introduced the Local Government Unit Support System (LGUSS), aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s initiative to digitalize government services.

According to a news release on Thursday, the LGUSS is an integrated platform designed to streamline local government operations and enhance the delivery of public services.

The system includes the Barangay Information Management System (BIMS) and the Cities and Municipalities Information Management System (CMIMS), both of which house specialized tools tailored to the specific needs of localities.

By automating daily operations, LGUSS aims to boost the efficiency of cities, municipalities, and barangays.

“I am confident that this platform will not only improve processes but also the overall quality of life within barangays, cities and municipalities,” said DILG Undersecretary Lord Villanueva during the program launch in Quezon City Tuesday last week.

A recent DILG survey revealed that 98.84% of 16,246 respon

dents from barangays and 98.69% of 1,831 respondents from cities and municipalities expressed willingness to adopt the system.

Additional modules are set to be incorporated into the LGUSS over time, including features for community feedback, vaccination monitoring, project tracking, land registration, disaster response, and revenue management.

The platform was developed through the collaboration of the DILG’s Information Systems and Technology Management Service, the National Barangay Operations Office, and the Bureau of Local Government Development.

In a separate initiative, the DILG honored 132 outstanding local government units (LGUs) nationwide through the SubayBAYANI Awards.

Nine LGUs received top honors as overall best performers, including Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Aklan for provinces; El Salvador City, Pasay City, and Tuguegarao City for cities; and Pudtol in Apayao, Buenavista in Marinduque, and New Washington in Aklan for municipalities.

The SubayBAYANI Awards recognize exemplary governance, innovation, and infrastructure program implementation by LGUs.

Each region also highlighted its top three performing provinces, cities, and municipalities, bringing the total awardees to 132 across the country.

This year, the DILG has monitored 28,556 infrastructure projects through its SubayBAYAN platform, covering initiatives such as road networks, water systems, evacuation centers, and ecoparks.
