“It’s Showtime” has been on air for fifteen years and it has celebrated its feat recently by a collective reminiscences of its hosts’ memorable experiences in the show.
The show started at ABS-CBN but moved in to free TV, namely Zoe Broadcasting Corporation’s A2Z Channel 11, and eventually simulcasted on TV5 but beamed in all digital platforms of the Kapamilya Network when the former Channel 2 was disenfranchised by Congress in 2020.
However, when GMA Network let go of Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.’s “Tahanang Pinakamasaya (Happiest Home)” and the Manny Pangilinan station signed in “Eat Bulaga,” GTV (Good Television), an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) TV accommodated “It’s Showtime,” a co-production with the Lopez media conglomerate as its flagship noontime variety.
In April this year, “It’s Showtime” was aired on Channel 7.
In its sixteenth year, though, will “It’s Showtime” still broadcast at the Kapuso Network when its contract ends this December?
According to GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, the contract renewal of “It’s Showtime” with their company is still under negotiation.
It was reported that GMA-7 “TicktoClock” will replace “It’s Showtime” but it is still under wraps.
Considering that “It’s Showtime” is a block time production and “TicktoClock” is an in-house production, which would GMA Network favor?
What are the nitty-gritty nuances to consider in the final decision of the Kapuso Network to reconsider another lease on “It’s Showtime” in 2025?
