When Richard Hiñola II got into show business, he was, initially an actor and many more.
And his screen name was simply Richard Hiñola.
At the time, he was already out of college as he graduated with a degree of Mass Communications from the Centro Escolar University (CEU). “Ang barkada ko sa CEU, si (I was running around with) Glenda Garcia,” said Richard.
Prior to this and immediately after his graduation, this future talent manager was one of Pizza Hut’s advertising and promotion guys who supervised all activities related to the pizza parlor that Araneta Center had connections with like Binibining Pilipinas events.
“Pero bago ang mga ‘yan, nag-practicum din ako sa ‘Vilma’ sa Banahaw Broadcasting Company (BBC) sa Broadcast City. Nakita ako ni Maribeth Bicharra at inalok niya ako na mag-training kasama ang kanyang mga dancers para maisama ako sa back-up dancers ni Vilma Santos. Pero ang priority ko talaga ay ang thesis ko sa college kaya pagkatapos ng isang session, tumutok na ako sa revalida ko (Before all this, I had a practicum in ‘Vilma’ at BBC in Broadcast City. Maribeth, the choreographer offered me to train under her as back-up dancers of Vilma Santos. But my priority was to get through my thesis so after one session I focused on my revalida),” Hiñola recalled.
Because Richard’s talent Angela Velez was the main actress of “Pakawalang Puso,” he was requested to appear in the film which he gave in. It was followed by another and finally, “Pamasak-Butas” with director Pat Alviz who gave him a major participation in the project. “Pero pagkatapos noon, ayaw ko na. Ayaw ko namang magpa-menching (After that I begged off. I didn’t want to force myself to act as a real man),” he burst into laughter.
Eventually, he concentrated on discovery and talent management of actresses like Hanni Miller, Keanna Reeves, among others.
It was a challenging chapter in his professional life Hiñola was able to hurdle many travails and passed them with flying colors like getting entangled and resolved with Keanna’s “lady escort” controversies.
Then he put up his RDH Entertainment Network which produces fashion shows, films, TV projects and other multimedia gigs.
And yes, beauty pageants.
As an impresario, Richard is into a lot of local beauty as well as inspirational contests and searches like the annual Philippine Empowered Men and Women which has Isko Moreno, Mario Dumaual, Ronald de la Rosa, Giselle Sanchez, Vergel Meneses among others. The Philippine Faces of Success has also given recognitions to achievers in Philippine society like Melanie Veneracion, a socio-civic leader; Melvin Manganaan, a brave health worker; Vico Sotto, a new breed of politician, Congresswomen Niña Taduran and Florida Robes etc.
A few months ago, Richard proclaimed Ashley Gomez as the 2021 Miss Campus Role Model because of her bravery to expose the unscrupulous social media public relations charlatans who victimized young girls into prostitution.
