Right-of-way acquisition for LRT 2 West & East extension underway

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) is now in the process of right-of-way acquisition for the LRT-2 West Extension Project, Administrator Hernando Cabrera said.

Administrator Cabrera said the P2 billion allotted fund for the LRT-2 West Extension Project will be for the property acquisitions. The entire project originally requires a total of P10 billion.

“Ang focus natin ngayon, ang latest na instruction satin ng Department to Transportation ay habang kulang pa yung pondo… yung available na pondo gamitin na natin ito para bilhin yung mga right-of-way,” Administrator Cabrera said over DOTr’s Sakay Na! radio program on Radyo Pilipinas.

“Magpa-prioritize tayo na bilhin na, asikasuhin na yung right-of-way, kasama na rito yung paglilipat ng utilities gaya ng kawad ng kuryente, tubo ng tubig,” he added.

Administrator Cabrera explained that once acquisition of properties have been acquired, the implementation of the project will proceed seamlessly.

Once completed, LRT-2 line will be extended five kilometers further west in Port Area, Manila via three additional stations, including a station in Divisoria, Tutuban and Pier 4.

LRT-2 East Extension

On the other hand, the feasibility study for the LRT-2 East Extension Project is in its refining stages, Administrator Cabrera said.

“Tapos na yung feasibility study, actually. Nire-refine na lang,” he said.

Once the feasibility study is complete, it will be submitted to the DOTr and National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) for approval.

The LRT-2 East Extension Project will be extended until Cogeo in Antipolo with at least three additional stations.
