The Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) apprehended a total of 50 unauthorized vehicles, comprising vans, buses, and other public utility vehicles (PUVs), resulting in fines amounting to an impressive P18 million for the period of February 1 to 22, 2024.
The Anti-Colorum campaign, spearheaded by SAICT in close partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO), has been instrumental in cracking down on illegal transport activities that pose risks to commuters and road users. Through their joint efforts, hefty fines of P200,000 per van and P1 million per bus have been imposed on offenders, showing government’s dedication to ensure safer roads.
Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista directed the campaign targeting unauthorized PUVs to uphold the welfare of road users and promote compliance with transportation regulations. DOTr sees uncovering more illegal and unregistered vehicles, further solidifying their commitment to purging the streets of illicit transport services.
