The Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) has suspended monthly housing loan payments for one month to ease the financial burden on communities affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
The temporary payment moratorium covers qualified member-beneficiaries from Aug. 29 to Sept. 28, 2026, providing more than ₱23.4 million in housing assistance, the SHFC said last week.
The payment relief covers qualified beneficiaries in the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bataan, and Tarlac.
“In response to the recent devastation caused by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon, the SHFC reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing the safety, well-being and recovery of our partner communities,” the agency said in a public advisory Thursday.
The latest measure follows ₱5.3 million in debt relief extended by the SHFC last month to qualified member-beneficiaries in the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Rizal and Cavite.
The housing agency urged affected beneficiaries to prioritize their families and communities as they recover from the effects of the monsoon.
“We advise all affected member-beneficiaries to prioritize family welfare, safety and community rehabilitation,” the SHFC said.
Qualified member-beneficiaries seeking additional information or clarification on the payment deferment may coordinate with their designated account officers or local SHFC branch offices.
The temporary relief follows directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Housing Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling to provide immediate assistance to communities affected by recent natural disasters.
The payment moratorium is expected to give affected households additional financial breathing room as they redirect resources toward recovery, repairs, and other urgent needs following the recent severe weather.
